Wohlman Named Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture
Minnesota Ag Connection - 10/24/2016

Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner David J. Frederickson has named Matthew Wohlman as the agency's new Deputy Commissioner. Wohlman replaces former Deputy Commissioner Jim Boerboom who retired earlier this month.

Wohlman has been serving as Assistant Commissioner since 2011. During his tenure, Wohlman led the development of the historic Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program which helps keep farmers profitable while addressing complex water quality challenges across our state.

"As a farmer and public servant, Matt brings a unique perspective to addressing opportunities and challenges facing farmers and rural communities," said Frederickson. "I'm pleased to have him assume the Deputy Commissioner's duties for our agency."

Wohlman also operates a fifth-generation family farming operation in western Minnesota. Prior to joining the Department of Agriculture, Wohlman interned for then U.S. Senator Mark Dayton, was a Legislative Assistant for then State Senator Yvonne Prettner Solon and was an agriculture aide and Outreach Director for Minnesota Congressman Tim Walz.

Wohlman begins his new duties immediately.
