Locally Produced Dinner and More Aug. 25 in Aitkin

A community event founded by local farmers, Farm2Families, set for 3-7 p.m. Aug. 25, at the Aitkin County Fairgrounds, is the signature event from the Sustainable Farming Association's Greater Mille Lacs Chapter and features dinner produced by Aitkin-area farmers, live music, a farmers' market, family activities and educational speakers.

The dinner menu includes grilled brats, chicken, and pork; sweet corn; roasted potatoes; dinner roll; roasted vegetables, and a salad buffet.

Family activities include a youth art contest, farmers market, children's games and activities, and a fair display.

Speakers include Theresa Keaveny, SFA Executive Director; Dr. Diomy Zamora, University of Minnesota Extension; and Peggy Jones, American Peat Technologies. Musical entertainment provided by Christian McShane and Aurora Baer.

General festival admission is free; dinner tickets, available at the door, are $15 for one trip through the line. Meal service starts at 4 p.m. Kids under 6 eat free with purchase of adult meal ticket.
