Minnesota Farmers Needed for Crop Loss Study
Minnesota Ag Connection - 08/14/2018
Determining baseline losses in specialty crop production and understanding supply-chain constraints to total utility
In order to determine how much surplus produce is available, and the uses for it that growers would like to see, we are conducting brief interviews and doing measurement on-farm in August and September. Measurement in the field takes place once fields are no longer being harvested, so there is very little involvement needed from the grower. We work with vegetable growers, so we're sensitive to how busy farms can be.
Researchers are looking for vegetable producers in Minnesota and Wisconsin, growing green pea, snap bean, sweet corn and cucumber.
Please get in touch with Lisa Johnson (706-340-3029 or l_johnson@ncsu.edu) or Rebecca Dunning (rebecca_dunning@ncsu.edu 919-389-2220) if it would help you to know how much surplus you have.
