Dayton Proclaims 'Teach Ag Day' in Minnesota
Minnesota Ag Connection - 09/23/2016
Recognizing the important contributions of agricultural educators to Minnesota's students and economy, Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed Thursday "Teach Ag Day" in Minnesota.
Agriculture supports more than 340,000 Minnesota jobs and creates $90 billion in economic activities statewide. However, there is currently a national shortage of agriculture educators. The Governor's proclamation, in conjunction with the National Teach Ag
Campaign, seeks to encourage more students at every level -- from preK-12 to college, and beyond -- to consider a career teaching agriculture in Minnesota.
The Governor's proclamation notes that "agricultural educators contribute to a strong and effective education in public schools," and that "the dedication and quality teaching of agricultural educators can positively impact a student's growth and future."
