Ag in the Classroom Offers Teacher Tours
Minnesota Ag Connection - 07/25/2016

Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom (MAITC), a K-12 agricultural literacy program based at the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, is leading a two-day summer teacher tour. Participating teachers will learn about Minnesota's diverse agricultural industry and what it has to offer to them as consumers, and to society as a whole. Each teacher will be encouraged to integrate knowledge gained from this experience when they return to the classroom this fall. This tour is co-sponsored by the MAITC Program and the MAITC Foundation.

The tours will be held July 25 and 26 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Stops include:

Monday -- Leaf Line Medical Cannabis Production, Cottage Grove, Ferndale Turkey Farm and Market, Cannon Falls, and Mahoney Registered Dairy Farm near Cannon Falls

Tuesday -- Upper River Services on the Mississippi, St. Paul, and Stakman-Borlaug Center for Sustainable Plant Health and the Minnesota Forever Green Initiative, both located on the University of Minnesota campus at St. Paul

The MAITC program has a 31 year history of providing educational resources to K-12 educators to cultivate an understanding and appreciation for the food and fiber system we rely upon daily.
