Cottonwood Cattle Producers' 50th Beef Royale June 14

The Cottonwood Cattle Producers would like to invite cattle producers from across the state of Minnesota to participate in the 50th annual Beef Royal held Juen 14. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of this annual non-halter pen show for market beef animals. Registration runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m for market steers and market heifers. The Beef Royale event will be held at the Lamberton Stockyards, Lamberton. There is no limit to the number of beef animal entries per farm for this event; all pen of three entries must be entered from the same farm. The final selection of the market cattle will begin at 5 p.m. Following the event, market steer and heifer carcasses will be shipped to and evaluated at Tyson Foods, Inc.

Entries fees are $35 for individual animals and $100 for a pen of three. Heifer and steer payouts will be made to the top 3 animals in each category for live animal entries. Carcass payouts will be made to the top 3 entries for heifers and steer combined. Pen of three entries will also be paid out to the top three combined entries. Please see the attached flyer for more pay out details. Pre-registration is encouraged. A $100 drawing will be made from all entries pre-submitted with a post mark prior to June 1st, 2016.

Prior to the evening show, beef focused educational activities will be made available. At 2 p.m. all local 4-H and FFA judging teams are invited to join the event for an opportunity to practice judging market beef animals. The public will have the opportunity to participate in the spectator contest at 5 p.m. The spectator contest, which has youth and adult divisions, will evaluate live animals on their carcass quality. Following the live show, the Cottonwood Cattle Producers invite the public to join them for a Ribeye steak supper. Steak supper tickets for non-members are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Cattlemen's memberships options will also be available that evening.

The Beef Royale Awards Banquet will be held on Nov. 12,, 5:30 p.m. at the Windom Community Center. Carcass data and results will be presented at that time.
