Morris Colloquium Today, Friday Focused on Climate, Social Change

The Philosophy Discipline invites the Morris community to the 46th Annual Midwest Philosophy Colloquium. This year's colloquium will explore the topic of "Structural Change: From Individuals to Institutions and Back".

The colloquium will feature Michael Brownstein, professor of philosophy at John Jay College and The Graduate Center, CUNY,and Daniel Kelly, professor of philosophy at Purdue University.

In their article, "Individualism, Structuralism, and Climate Change," the two develop a range of arguments and examples showing how the most important individual actions are those that facilitate structural change, and the most important structural changes are those that reshape the ways individuals think, feel, and act toward one another and their shared world.

The first lecture for this year's Colloquium, Brownstein's "Climate Change, Racism, and Misinformation," will take place on April 28 at 7 p.m. in Imholte Hall 109. le, "Individualism, Structuralism, and Climate Change," the two develop a range of arguments and examples showing how the most important individual actions are those that facilitate structural change, and the most important structural changes are those that reshape the ways individuals think, feel, and act toward one another and their shared world.

The second lecture, "Social Change, Cultural Minds, and Human Nature," will be given by Kelly on April 29 at 3:30 p.m. in Imholte Hall 109.
