Walz Kicks Off Earth Week with Clean-Up
Minnesota Ag Connection - 04/23/2019

Governor Tim Walz Monday kicked off Earth Week with a clean-up of the Lafayette Park neighborhood in St. Paul. Walz opened the 30th annual Lafayette Park clean-up with remarks at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in front of a group of nearly 100 volunteers. Following his opening remarks, the Governor participated in the clean-up efforts.

"Earth Week is an important reminder of our great responsibility toward our planet and one another," Governor Walz said. "I'm proud to be a partner in these efforts at every level. Whether it's moving Minnesota to 100% clean energy by 2050 or taking an hour to pick up trash, there are things we can all do to move towards a greener economy and environment."

Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Commissioner Laura Bishop and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Commissioner Sarah Strommen also helped kick-off the event. Event partners included the Department of Natural Resources, Department of Human Services, Board of Water and Soil Resources, MNIT, Department of Health, St. Paul Police Department, Union Gospel Mission, Colliers, Honsa-Binder Printing, and Taher.
