'Dirt Rich' Series Wraps Up Today in Goodhue
Minnesota Ag Connection - 10/29/2020

The Sustainable Farming Association's ongoing Dirt Rich series is wrapping up for the season in Goodhue with a fencing workshop featuring expert knowledge and farmer-relevant information. The workshop will also focus on the fifth principle of soil health -- livestock integration.

SFA Senior Technical Advisor Kent Solberg will lead "Fence Options for Grazing Cover Crops and Corn Residue" on Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to noon. Jared Luhman, SFA Soil Health lead, will join in the instruction as the farmer host at his family's operation, Dry Creek Red Angus, in Goodhue.

"It's a great opportunity to get hands-on, in-field fencing experience with pointers from other farmers," said Luhman.

Registration is free for current SFA members and $40/nonmembers. Individual SFA membership is typically $40, making it a great time to join the network. This in-person event will be limited to 10 participants each to follow appropriate social distancing guidelines and to ensure plenty of time for hands-on instruction. Pre-registration is required.

The workshop is sponsored by the Driftless Chapter of SFA.

For more information, email kent@sfa-mn.org. SFA recommends bringing masks to all events. Dirt Rich podcasts are also available.

SFA is a chapter-based, statewide non-profit organization that supports the development and enhancement of sustainable farming systems through innovation, demonstration, education, and farmer-to-farmer networking.
