Trump Set to Pardon Two Turkeys During White House Ceremony
USAgNet - 11/21/2017

The turkeys set to be pardoned by President Trump during the White House's annual Thanksgiving festivities have arrived at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington. The White House posted images of the National Thanksgiving Turkey and the alternate bird checking into the luxury hotel on social media Sunday.

"President Donald J. Trump will pardon the National Thanksgiving Turkey in a ceremony in the Rose Garden," the White House confirmed in a statement.

The ceremony takes place Tuesday. It's the 70th year that the National Turkey Federation, the turkey growers' lobby, will be presenting the president with a turkey.

This year's birds were raised in western Minnesota under National Turkey Federation Chairman Carl Wittenburg.

The turkeys will reside at "Gobbler's Rest" on Virginia Tech's campus after the ceremony, where they will join last year's birds that were pardoned by former President Obama.
